* Required materials - due the first week of class
- 1) * Ace the IT Job Interview! by Paula Moreira,
McGraw-Hill, 2nd Edition (required!), Jan. 2008, ISBN-10: 0071495789
- 2) * One USB Thumb Drive - at least 256MB capacity
- 3) * Activate your SCCC Google Apps account (Learn how here)
- 4) * One USB headset with microphone - This has become an expected "tool of our trade". We will be learning how to communicate "live/real-time" online so you can be better prepared to communicate with your peers and customers. I recommend the "USB" types as they are the easiest to manage from computer to computer. I also offer online assistance outside our scheduled class time using this communication tool.
By the 2nd week of the quarter, everyone should have 20 MB's of Web Server Space with SCCC IF they've paid their Computer lab fee. You'll know you have server space if you find your name listed amongst the Student Web Accounts: http://seattlecentral.org/computing/stuwebaccts.php
Students can also get 250 MB's of free server space here http://freehostia.com
I recommend these folks because they provide their free service without banners or advertising code embedded into your hard work. Learn how to get an account and FTP to it with my 3 min. movie
Ideally, you'll want to get eventually get your own domain name and server space to place your final project (online portfolio and resume) on. Then produce yourself some free business cards to help you begin knocking on some doors! |
